Megan Carty is a Boston area contemporary abstract artist exploring themes of triumph over hardship. My gestural abstract paintings resemble carefully composed songs, where contour lines act like musical notes and interact with blocks of color to create delicate narratives. I intentionally use empty space as a compositional element, allowing the eye to breathe, much like the rests in music. My color choices are instinctual, contrasting vibrant, saturated hues with muted tones to evoke a unique mood for each viewer. The result is a dynamic and harmonious visual concerto, rich with energy and emotion.
