The Maine coast is full of color and life, even in late fall when the trees are asleep and the tide has gone out. Casco Bay is such a magical place to visit...full of secret coves and patches of breathtaking scenery.

I used a palette knife to create the land and plant life by scraping, adding and taking away paint. I used pencil to bring energy and gesture to the trees. I loved the look of the moody cloudy day and how the colors of the land seemed brighter than normal.  I love to use extra-saturated vivid color as this is how I remember all the places I go. The piece has been signed in paint on the front and is titled, signed and dated in pencil on the back.
